Admission of Ukrainian Children and Contacting your REALT Team
In the past few months, primary school communities across Ireland have welcomed over 6,000 Ukrainian children.

We expect that more Ukrainian children will arrive with their families seeking refuge in Ireland. Ukrainian families may also move within the State as accommodation provision changes in some areas or families move to seek employment or even return to family either here or abroad.

Regional Education and Language Teams  (REALT) for Ukraine have been established to co-ordinate education support and assist families in securing school places as they leave or arrive in an area. These teams work with all schools, both primary and secondary, across all patronages.

If your school is contacted regarding the enrolment of a child from the Ukraine, either transferring from another school within the State or newly arrived in Ireland, they should contact the REALT team in their area directly.

It is also important that, having contacted the REALT team, once a child is enrolled that they are registered on the Primary On-Line Database (POD), as this provides valuable data to secure support and resources.
